Meet Cara

Cara Suarez

Dance Teacher

I'm a California native - but please don't hold that against me! I've been dancing since I was little... although I'd say I finally became good around high school (those awkward years eventually pay off!). Being on the cheer squad and dance team helped build my confidence, but one of the biggest influences in my life was becoming friends with another Cara who has Down syndrome. Through that friendship, I discovered a passion for supporting people of all abilities, which led me to volunteering with Special Olympics while I was still in high school.

I graduated from California Lutheran University with a degree in Communications, which explains why you'll probably hear me before you see me. My "inside voice" is roughly equivalent to everyone else's outdoor voice.

Life then took me across the pond to the UK, where I spent ten wonderful years becoming mom to the coolest kid ever. I also became the unofficial singer of every nursery rhyme at mommy-and-baby groups (despite weekly assurances that someone else could handle it - they're just so polite over there!). Later, I taught athletics to children ages 3-8, giving me another opportunity to channel my endless energy into helping kids grow in confidence while slightly testing the hearing of nearby civilized British citizens.

Now I call Tennessee home, and I couldn't be more grateful to be part of the MOVE family. I started as a volunteer shortly after moving to Murfreesboro, and no matter what kind of day I'm having, MOVE makes my heart absolutely sing. If you happened to be at the Franklin recital in November 2025, you may recognize me as the woman sprinting across the stage carrying the giant Mario cutout. Yes, I do sign autographs...selfies are available upon request.

Every dancer at MOVE holds a special place in my heart. Getting to celebrate their accomplishments, share in their joy, and watch their confidence grow is one of the greatest privileges of my life. Love really is limitless, and I'm so thankful to be part of a place where everyone belongs.
