Meet Janel
Janel Carswell
Dance Teacher
Janel Rae is a Florida native, where her dance journey began. She trained throughout high school in a professional program, gaining the opportunity to explore various dance genres and work with world-renowned choreographers.
During high school, Janel also developed a passion for helping others. She served as an assistant chair yoga teacher with a brain injury organization and interned in Maryland at the Therapeutic and Recreational Riding Center alongside an occupational therapist. Here is where she gained her love for aiding individuals through fun and inventive ways to move our bodies.
In 2017, Janel moved to Tennessee to attend Tennessee State University as an undergraduate student. While at TSU, she danced with the community-based organization; Hip’Notyze Dance Troupe. If you ask her about her dance name in the group, she’ll proudly tell you: “6th Sense.” With the troupe, she had the opportunity to perform as a background dancer and choreographer for various artists and television appearances.
Janel earned her Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences with a concentration in Therapeutic Studies. She is currently pursuing her Master’s in Mental Health Counseling with a focus on Dance/Movement Therapy.
She began her journey with MOVE Inclusive Dance as a volunteer, later became an intern, and is now thrilled to be a MOVE Teacher!
